Proposed Speakers for 2026

June 17th. 2026 –  Guest speaker Dr. Chris Doughty spoke on Sir George Doughty and how he built a world wide fishing empire out of Grimsby U.K. 

July 15th. 2026 – Banyan Luncheon at the Robin Hood Hotel from 1230hrs. Several club members as guest speakers to gave a short talk on various subjects.

August 19th. 2026 – Our guest speaker will be Andrew Dixon who will present a paper he researched for a Churchill Fellowship he undertook into WASP, which is an acronym for Wind Assisted Sail Power as it may apply to large ships.

September 16th. 2026 – Jeanne Harrison has a special connection to the ‘Mayflower’ and the Pilgrims who sailed to America. Jeanne will explain this connection and how a chartered vessel carried 102 Pilgrims to the New World and why.   

October 21st. 2026 – Trafalgar Night at the Robin Hood Hotel. Dr. John Couper-Smartt will bring us another great presentation on “Young Horatio” covering Nelson’s early life and the experiences which forged the foundations which formed him into a national idol.

November 27th. 2026 – Partner’s Night to be held at the Naval, Military and Air Force Club. – Guest speaker will be Mel Slater – Director Maritime at Defence SA to talk on shipbuilding developments at Osborne facilities.
